What is Google Search Console?
Search Console is Google's own report card for your website. It shows which searches your pages appeared for, how often, how many people clicked, which pages Google has indexed, which it could not, and whether anything is stopping it from reading your site properly. It is free, it is authoritative, and most small businesses have never looked at it.
Why it matters
Without Search Console, SEO is guesswork: you change things and hope. With it, you can see that a page suddenly started appearing for a valuable search, that another page silently dropped out of the index, or that Google is confused about which version of a page is real. It turns monthly SEO work from opinion into decisions based on evidence.
What we may monitor
- Search queries your site appears for, including ones you never targeted.
- Impressions (how often you were shown) and clicks (how often someone chose you).
- Pages appearing in search, and which ones are pulling their weight.
- Indexing problems: pages Google cannot or will not index, and why.
- Pages gaining or losing visibility month over month.
- New opportunities: searches where you appear on page two or three and a better page could move you up.
What Secret Systems does
Once your site's Search Console access is connected to us (we set this up with you after launch, it takes a few minutes and stays in your Google account), we review it as part of every month's work. What we find drives decisions across ongoing SEO, technical SEO and SEO content, and the relevant figures appear in your monthly report.
Example. A service page suddenly starts receiving impressions for a valuable search term but few clicks. That tells us Google thinks the page is relevant and searchers do not, usually a weak title or an off-target opening. Improving those is a small change with a clear reason behind it.
An honest note about access and data
Search Console monitoring depends on access being connected for your site. Until it is, we work from what we can observe directly and say so in your report. We never invent Search Console numbers, estimate them, or present third-party guesses as Google data.
How it fits into Growth Starter
What we do not promise
- We do not guarantee rankings, traffic or leads. No honest provider can.
- We do not fabricate, estimate or embellish Search Console data. If access is not connected, the report says so.
- Search Console shows Google's view only; it does not cover other search engines or your Google Business Profile insights.
Frequently asked questions
We walk you through it after launch. Verification happens in your Google account, takes a few minutes, and you can revoke our access at any time.
No. Analytics tracks what visitors do on your site. Search Console shows how Google finds and displays your site before the visit. They answer different questions; Search Console is the one that matters most for SEO decisions.
Then we know where to start, which is the point. Search Console is most useful when it reveals problems, because those are fixable.
Growth Starter is designed for sites we host and manage, so the fixes we identify can actually be made. Contact us if your situation is different.
